02 February 2012
Story Code : dh32

Web Content ImageRecording studios and post-production organisation the Air Entertainment Group has expanded its activities with the launch on 1 February of a new music and lifestyle radio station, Strongroom Alive, writes Kevin Hilton. Based within the Strongroom studio and bar complex in east London, the channel is broadcasting using Psquared automation and Sonifex mixing and distribution equipment.

Run by station manager Xanthe Fuller, who has worked at BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, NME Radio and, most recently, on BBC Radio 2's Jamie Cullum Show, Strongroom Alive has scheduled programmes from local record labels, magazines, galleries and shops. It will feature British "leftfield" music and electronica, with a live show from 7pm to 9pm every day and back-to-back music at other times.

Strongroom's in-house engineering team has built a fully sound-proofed on-air studio and production office into an existing space two doors down from the famous bar. Equipment includes Psquared Myriad version 3 play-out automation, an analogue Sonifex S1 mixing desk, KRK Rokit RP8 and RP6 loudspeakers, Denon DNC635 CD players, a Rane Serato Scratch Live SL4 DJ deck interface system, Sonifex distribution amp and telephone hybrid, TC Electronic DB Max limiter and Studiospares SB200 mics.

Strongroom Alive broadcasts on Freeview digital terrestrial television, the internet and mobile apps. For the next month it will also be available on FM in London.
