Web Content ImageEast European independent broadcaster CTC Media has updated its intercom systems as part of an expansion of its facilities in preparation for handling eight TV networks, writes Kevin Hilton. The company currently runs five services in Russia, Kazakhstan and Moldova, plus a pay-TV channel for North America, Israel and Germany.

The new installation includes a RTS/Telex ADAM communications system, featuring 48 ports - with the capability to run 272 ports - and RVON technology to allow voice over IP connectivity with satellite links and external broadcasters.

KP-32 and KP-12LK keypanels based on the Cyrillic alphabet have also been installed, with CTC's existing RTS/Telex units being updated to offer this as well. Other equipment includes 24 MCP-90-12 microphones.

Nico Lewis, RTS/Telex's senior sales manager covering Russia, comments, "CTC Media consolidates its position on the Russian broadcast market with this expansion. This installation enables CTC Media to integrate easily with other broadcasting companies, as RTS intercoms are the most popular intercom systems in Russia. Many operators therefore know how to work with these systems."

The installation was carried out by the engineering department of RTS/Telex's Russian partner, OKNO TV.
