Web Content ImageUK broadcast mixing console manufacturer Calrec Audio has strengthened its presence in the Asia-Pacific Rim by appointing a full-time product specialist for the region, writes Kevin Hilton. Ace Yip will work alongside Graham Murray, who has headed up the company's office in Singapore since it opened in 2009.

Yip (pictured), who speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English, will look after technical sales and support and joins Calrec from Singapore TV and radio broadcaster MediaCorp. He will be based with Murray at offices on the Alexandra Techno Park, where Sennheiser, Hewlett-Packard and Nokia also have premises.

"We've had an increase of more than 250 percent in annual sales turnover in this region since opening the office in Singapore," comments Murray. "We now have 12 Apollo desks in Japan, including our first Apollo at NHK, and recently 12 Omega consoles have been sold to South Korea. It's all about our customers here feeling that we're committed to this region. We have a dedicated demo room in Singapore where we run seminars and product training and we've found that this can be very useful to our distributors in the region when they're pitching to potential clients. The addition of Ace Yip to our staff will strengthen that commitment to our regional customers."
